“Legends are not born — they are made.”
— Adapted from oral storytelling traditions

Step into a world of heroes, monsters, magic, and unforgettable tales as young performers bring Legends & Lore to life!

Created by students in Wandering Aesthetics’ two-week Summer Theatre Intensive, this original ensemble performance explores the power of storytelling through myths, legends, and folklore. Featuring epic quests, hilarious twists, terrifying creatures, and stories unlike anything you’ve heard before, audiences will journey through a world where every storyteller has a chance to change the fate of a kingdom.

From fractured fairy tales to legendary heroes, students have spent two weeks devising, rehearsing, and building a bold theatrical experience rooted in imagination, collaboration, and creative risk-taking.

Join us for this free public performance and celebrate the next generation of storytellers!

Performances are free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Upcoming Dates TBA…

Join us for an inspiring evening where personal tales ignite connections and build community!

Part workshop and part open mic, this free event celebrates the belief that everyone has a story worth telling.

Storytelling is more than just entertainment – it's a powerful tool for healing and self-discovery. By sharing true experiences, you will place yourself at the heart of your own life journey, using narrative to foster understanding and connection across diverse perspectives. This event aims to build bridges, not walls, within our community.

Each event will feature a different guest storyteller and provide a supportive space for anyone who wishes to share their own story. The format will be an open mic but can shift to a more intimate story circle, depending on attendance.

This storytelling workshop is led by Wandering Aesthetics' Education Director Kyle Jozsa and Artistic Director Benjamin Rexroad, using the Storyteller's Way model to help participants craft their stories.

After the workshop, the open mic begins! You can share your own story or enjoy listening to others. A special guest storyteller will also take the stage.

You can’t do impossible things without being a little silly!

Get ready for a week of big voices, bold bodies, and totally over-the-top fun! Wandering Aesthetics presents Summer Camp: Cartoon Chaos, a high-energy summer theatre camp where imagination runs wild and creativity takes center stage.

Perfect for young creative kids who are brand new to theatre and for those who want to dive a little deeper into the world of performance, Cartoon Chaos invites students to explore cartoons and cartoon characters through the lens of theatre. Together, we’ll discover how to become cartoonish on stage—playing with exaggerated movement, expressive voices, physical comedy, and larger-than-life characters.

Led by Wandering Aesthetics’ Director of Education Kyle Jozsa and Teaching Artist Matt Dodds, this camp places a strong emphasis on ensemble-building and creative play. Through theatre games, improvisation, and collaborative storytelling, students will connect with like-minded peers while learning the fundamentals of live performance in a fun, supportive, and low-pressure environment.

Each day includes engaging activities that introduce key theatre skills—such as stage picture, movement, timing, and character creation—while encouraging students to take creative risks, trust their instincts, and support one another as an ensemble. By the end of the week, students will help create a playful, cartoon-inspired performance to share with family and friends.

The camp will conclude with a final presentation on Friday afternoon, celebrating the students’ creativity, teamwork, and joy on stage.

Additional Information

  • Students should bring a water bottle and brown bag lunch each day.

  • Camp will be held at Summit Artspace,
    140 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44308.

Whether your child is stepping onto the stage for the first time or already loves to perform, Summer Camp: Cartoon Chaos is a joyful, imaginative introduction to theatre where being silly is not just allowed—it’s encouraged!
