Full Circle Storytelling: Collected Works, Vol. 2

  • Jilly's Music Room 111 North Main Street Akron, OH, 44308 United States (map)

Over the past year, Wandering Aesthetics, The Akronist and Jilly's Music Room partnered to produce nine Full Circle Storytelling events – each inspired by a prompt and an idea: everyone has a story.

From these open mic events, eight storytellers were chosen to work with Wandering Aesthetics’ Director of Education Kyle Jozsa to shape their stories and present them at ‘Full Circle Storytelling: Collected Works, Vol. 2.’

Special guest Neema Tamang, a Nepali actor who recently performed in ‘In Search of Alternative Dreams’ as part of Gum-Dip Theatre’s Nepali Applause Festival, has been invited to share a story about “first love in a refugee camp.” DJ AaRron Epps will guide the gathering, spinning soulful soundscapes as the evening’s emcee.

Stories range from heart wrenching to hysterical – and everywhere in-between!

Tickets are $10.00 and available at the door or online at Pay-what-you-can tickets are available at the door. For more information please call 330.612.3090 or email Doors at 7:00 PM, Storytelling begins at 7:30 PM.

Neema Tamang
STORY: "First Love"

Neema Tamang was born on August 10, 1996 in a Nepali refugee camp. He worked with Suruwath Theatre Company as an artist, which he established on April 20, 2011. His goal was to bring social awareness to the community and preserve the Nepali culture. His interest in the arts drives him to perform. He also wants to share the arts with other people so they know what it is to love the arts and do creative things. Not only is he passionate about theatre, he’s passionate about sports too.

He is the founder of the SAC Program, which is focused on building and sustaining the city of Akron through community building, entrepreneurship and black male achievement.

Full Circle is a successful monthly storytelling event open to the community. Telling their own true tales, Akronites place themselves at the center of their own life journeys. We use the art of narrative to ignite understanding between diverse peoples, building bridges– not walls– within our community.
